Work culture and Activities
- We arrange for and take part in discussions and workshops against supernaturalism, astrology and of that ilk. ‘Aloukik Noy, Loukik’ (Just natural, not supernatural) is the title of our expository programme. It is a public show, in which our activist-performers perform the tricks and gimmicks of the so-called occult practitioners, and also explain rationally the alleged ‘miraculous happenings.’ We have organized, performed and took part in thousands of such public shows.
- We put forward our ideas through posters, seminars, mass songs, street-dramas, educative slide shows, street corner meetings and other feasible means.
- We publish from time to time rationalistic books, periodicals, reports, folders, pamphlets etc at reasonable price. We have two periodicals, namely ‘Ekush Shataker Yuktibadi’ (for all) and ‘Kishore Yuktibadi’ (specially for the young and adolescent). The first name means ‘Twenty First Century Rationalist’, and the second means ‘The Young Rationalist’.
- We have educative meets, workshops and special study circles on various contemporary issues confronting rationalist ideals. The purpose is to revise and widen the knowledge of our activists, investigators and performers, as well as attracting a broader audience into rationalist discourses.
- We carry out investigations against so-called miraculous feats and try to unfold the mysteries behind those incidents. There are several hundred such cases we have exposed so far, and not in a single case we have failed. Most of such cases are well recorded in our books and periodicals, and many of them are covered by well-known mass media.
- We take part from time to time in live discussions and interviews on rationalism and related issues, on radio, TV channels and social media.
- We organize mass awareness programmes on health related superstitions and rational use of drugs. Protesting against metaphysical and unfounded system of medicine is also within our agenda.
- We are strongly against use of scientific jargons in service of religion and mystical practices and world views, and we toil to expose such instances of theoretical nonsense.
- We also have lots of activities on snake related superstitions and snake bite problems. The campaign includes workshops with seminars, poster exhibitions, slide shows and video shows.
- Arrangement for submission of dead bodies of human volunteers, who pledged beforehand, to the medical colleges for anatomical teaching, without performing cremation and other religious death-rites, is another field of our activity. This provides us scope to address the superstitions regarding dead body and the ‘soul’.
