AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

We want to eradicate all sorts of superstitious, anti-rational and metaphysical beliefs inimical to truth, reason, rationality and science. Supernaturalism, paranormalism, theism, theology, theosophy, astrology, communalism, fundamentalism, religious fanaticism, chauvinism, racism and caste divisions are instances of such beliefs. Belief in these irrationalities makes people ignorant about the structure and function of nature, society and mind. This also leaves people sometimes timid, un-enterprising and some other times violent and hate-mongering. All elements of the status quo of the society appear to them to be justified and immutable, thus shrinking the space for protest and progress. Such prejudices also divide the humanity, and promote irrational hatred and apathy among groups and creeds. Last but not the least, such prejudices curb science, technology, art and human progress.

We strongly believe that only rationalism and scientific ideology can help people understand and explain natural and social reality — at least potentially, if not always readily. Hence our entire endeavors are aimed at building up scientific temper among the people.
